SUNFLOWER MORNING - SOLD

I painted this from a picture I took a few years ago of some sunflowers we grew in the backyard.  They were the biggest ever and the birds loved the seeds once the flowers were done.  I've tried to grow some since then without the same luck.  I think I will try again!

COPPER PLATED PEARS

I'm in the process of starting to prepare for my summer painting classes at Art-A-Fair in Laguna Beach.  I primarily teach palette knife work with an underpainting done with brushes and this is done to establish your value pattern (pattern of lights and darks).  Palette knife is such fun because the color stays so clean and it can almost be sculpted when you have enough paint on the canvas.  I'll be teaching on Tuesdays.  The first class will be July 1st.  For information, call 714-271-1135 or to make a reservation, call 949-494-4514.

KEYHOLE VIEW

Another view from one of my favorite painting places--Treasure Island at the Montage.  Landscape painting is always an exercise in values and grouping your lights,  middle values and darks.  I love the challenge and will keep working at it.

Treasure

This tiny cup was my Father's when he was little.  The inside is lined with a gold-like material so I'm not so sure how healthy that would be nowadays.  It has a little boy's angelic face painted on the other side, but I didn't want to get too fussy with the painting so opted to paint the plain side.

Poppies

This is a palette knife painting with lots of rich texture. I grow the poppies on a bank in back of my home. They have multiplied from just two plants I brought home from a nursery years ago. Their color lights up the entire backyard.
