Lake Laguna Niguel Reflections

This is a "re-paint" of the picture I had done recently while at Lake Laguna Niguel.
It was suggested my background was not dropped back far enough and I agreed.
Thus the re-paint. I'm much happier with it now.It has a nice "watery" feel
and makes the tree look much more beautiful.
Size is 9 x 12

Gull Friends

I went to Crystal Cove to paint the small old cottages, but found the birds and waves that day to be so beautiful I couldn't ignore them.  Two birds in particular seemed to stay together, thus the name "Gull Friends".   If interested, give me a call or email--quartonfineart@yahoo.com or 714-271-1135.
Size is 11 x 14.  SOLD

Irvine Fall Color

On a recent painting trip to Irvine Park I felt like I was "greeted" with the beautiful fall color.  The trees
were just starting to lose their leaves and had turned to a brilliant gold in places.  It was a remarkably beautiful day with the exception of someone out walking their dog.  The dog took one look at me and started to hiss and growl.  We finally figured out that it was my painting umbrella that was all new to him and he definitely didn't like it!

Laguna Niguel Lake

This was my first trip to this lake. I had no idea what I had been missing! Absolutely lovely! Anyone living in the area that hasn't already visited would love it.
I painted on a small bluff and had the place to myself until 5 fishermen came along. Fortunately they went down the bluff some distance away so I had the peaceful quiet again. Hopefully the peacefulness that I felt in this lovely spot is translated into the painting.

Oil on Belgian Linen Canvas panel.
11 x 14 inches.
Unframed $275 or Framed $325

Pillars in Time

This painting is another image from my trips to the Mission in San Juan Capistrano.
The pillars are so interesting as they have so much texture between the plaster and the bricks and mud bricks. The bougainvillea twining around them adds such beauty.

Oil Painting, 9 x 12

Lakeside

Yesterday I painted at Irvine Park which is located in Orange County, CA near my home. It was a beautiful day, unlike the day before where I had gone to paint and had to leave due to wind. This time of year at the park is wonderful--just enough leaves have fallen from the trees to allow visibility of the branches more clearly and the feeling of fall is in the air. I learned yesterday that this lake was man-made back in 1913 and was quite a novelty at that time--I can believe that!! The waterfall is created by water flowing from the body of water just beyond it which is near a boathouse. Paddle boats are for rent during the busier times of the year--sounds like fun!

The painting is 11 x 14. Let me know if you like it--quartonfineart@yahoo.com

"Country Lane"

In the spring of this year I went on a painting trip with a club I belong to (So. Calif. Plein Air Painters) to the Santa Rose Plateau. It is a beautiful preserve of land near the Temecula area. It consists of hundreds of acres of untouched land. When you are there it is easy to imagine you have stepped back in time to the virgin lands of our forefathers. This painting represents one of the many trails I walked on that day. The poppies were just starting to bloom and a feeling of spring was in the air. However, it did get darned hot later on!!!

Let me know if you are interested in this painting. It is 11 x 14. loriquarton@yahoo.com

"Mission Bougainvillea"

This painting is actually from a photo I took several years ago. At the time, my friend and I had gone to the mission to paint and it was absolutely bleak!! Then we were told the mission had been tented for termites. The photo was the only remembrance of the way it had looked before the tenting. The bougainville is coming back, but will take a little more time to make a complete recovery. It's very hardy as those of you who have dealt with it know.

Poppies of Italy

I've just returned from a painting trip to Italy in the Chianti area of Tuscany. I was in a painting workshop with Greg LaRock who is a fantastic instructor. We stayed in an old monastery that has been totally updated in San Fedele. The painting above was done the last day of the workshop at a poppy field near a small town named Pianini (sp?) There were only 5 of us including Greg and we all painted the poppy field from various locations. My view included the Italian home at the top of the hill. We had seen other poppy fields, but this one was spectacular. Such a treat! Hope you enjoy. I'll be showing my artwork at Art Affair again this summer and will have this piece there.

Oasis

I painted this 30 x 40 original after one of our trips to the desert. While there the skies were magnificent (as they often are in the desert) and I tried to "explain" on canvas what I had seen or the feeling that those beautiful skies gave me.
